Jay Turner

Mark Shepard prepares wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance medical directives and other estate planning documents for individuals. Mark also represents corporate and individual trustees, executors and other fiduciaries in legal matters involving probate and the administration of trusts, estates and other fiduciary relationships. He also represents beneficiaries of estates and trusts.

Prior to co-founding  Shepard & Turner, PLC, Mark worked in the legal department of SunTrust Bank serving as Group Vice President and managing a team of trust and estate attorneys. Prior to his tenure at SunTrust Bank, he was a partner in the Trusts and Estates division of the law firm of Williams Mullen. Before attending law school, Mark worked as a tax accountant at Arthur Andersen & Co. in Washington, DC. Mark was a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia.

Mark is a member of the Virginia Bar Association. Mark currently serves as the Chairman of the Wills, Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia Bar Association as well as Chairman of its Legislative Committee. Mark is a member of the Virginia State Bar where he served on the Board of Governors for the Trusts and Estates Section (1997 – 2002).

Mark received his law degree from the George Mason University School of Law in 1992, and his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1986.

Mark enjoys golf and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
